The Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Councillor Rob Higgins.

Originally from the East Midlands Rob came to Newcastle to study Sociology in the 70’s but fell in love with the city and has never left, first becoming a Councillor in 1996

As well as his busy Mayoral and councillor duties Rob is a keen countryside walker and football fan having played to a respectable level when younger he now has a season ticket for Newcastle United

I was lucky to catch up with Lord Mayor Rob in his Palour in the magnificent Newcastle Civic Offices.

As well as having a chat about the walk we discussed football and the charities which he is championing in his Mayoral year, these are The Scotswood Community Garden, ‘Seach’,an older people’s charity  locally in Benwell and the Motor Neurone Disease Association
